SYNOPSIS

Comedian Becky Lucas learns her childhood friend Jess endured years of horrific abuse, leaving Becky haunted by regret for not recognising signs. Curious what abusive relationships look like, Becky visits a retirement village to hear how past generations treated domestic violence as private. Shocked that women aged 18–24 are most at risk, she speaks with survivors Ella and Lauren to trace how abuse begins. She stages a street social experiment to see how bystanders react and consults experts and workshops to understand manipulative tactics. Becky, used to joking about taboos, resolves to spark open conversation so victims can find support and escape.
