The 2024 ATOM SAC Pack has arrived! This SAC Pack has been created by experienced Media VCE teachers to reflect the current Media study design (2024). The SAC Pack includes sample school-assessed coursework for Unit 3 Outcome 1 'Narratives and their Contexts' and Video Essay SACs.
Each section of the SAC Pack includes carefully written questions that reflect the changes in the study design and a comprehensive marking guide which includes 'teacher notes' that explain the aspects of each question and 'marking criteria' that break down how each question could be graded.
The SAC Pack is a powerful class resource which allows students to practice structured style questions and longer responses when preparing for assessment tasks. It also provides teachers with a sample template to create their own school-assessed coursework.
Many schools will choose to assess students using a modified version of one of the three SACs provided. Some schools will choose to use both the Narratives SAC and the Contexts SAC for a 40 mark assessment. Schools that exclusively assessed Narratives in their Video Essay assessment may choose to focus on Contexts for this written SAC (or vice versa). To join the discussion and learn how other schools are assessing students, please visit the ATOM Facebook group.
The SAC Pack includes four sections:
Unit 3, Outcome 1 – Narratives
Assessment includes 6 questions across 20 marks in total. Marking guide included.
Unit 3, Outcome 1 – Contexts
Assessment includes 5 questions across 20 marks in total. Marking guide included.
Unit 3, Outcome 1 – Narratives and their Contexts
Assessment includes 3 questions across 20 marks in total. Marking guide included.
Video Essays + Video Essays for Unscored Students
This sample Video Essays SAC allow students to practice producing a video essay. This SAC includes optional "getting started" questions for students and a rubric. There is also a version for unscored students included with a modified assignment.
NB: The 2024 ATOM SAC Pack is not an official VCAA document and should only be used as a guiding document. Any material used for VCE assessment should be modified so it is appropriate to your cohort of students.
