In Rolf de Heer's latest film, we see disheartening depictions of how Aboriginal Australians in the far north struggle against government intervention, ill health and ongoing poverty. But according to Thomas Redwood, the film is just as much about the harsh realities faced by the Indigenous population as it is about the individual plight of its star, David Gulpilil.
