Film as Text

These notes were compiled in the course of teaching The Commitments (Alan Parker, 1991) as a text in a VCE Unit 1 English Class (Year 11 for non-Victorian readers). As a teacher of both VCE English and Media, I produced them initially for my own future reference. I soon realised that my English colleagues could use the notes as a guide to demonstrate how the various textbooks on 'film as text' could be adapted for a specific film in the English classroom.
