Walsh reviews a major work in Australian film history, Jedda, the first film with Aboriginal lead actors, the first Australian colour feature film and the first Australian entry at Cannes. 'The DVD release of Charles and Elsa Chauvel's Jedda (1955) is timely, not only in allowing us to re-assess a film of continuing relevance to Australian cinema and its relation to the volatile politics of race, but also for the insights it provides on the dissemination of screen history materials in this country at the moment.'
