Jenny Sages: Paths to Portraiture explores the work of Australian artist Jenny Sages through her portrait painting and landscapes. Sages' portraits have been exhibited twenty times in the Archibald Prize. In 2012, her self-portrait titled After Jack won the People's Choice Award at the Archibalds. In this documentary, we hear Sages talking about her work and creating her large-style portraits and abstract landscapes.
Jenny Sages: Paths to Portraiture would be an excellent film to show to secondary students of Art and Design. The documentary presents an important picture of an important Australian artist at work. It offers insights into the process of creating portraits and landscapes, not simply in technical terms but by exploring how the work intimately reflects different stages, meetings and experiences in the artist's life.
