This resource has been created to help upper-primary students learn about one aspect of Australia's Anzac heritage – the role of the Australian submarine AE2 at Gallipoli between 25 and 30 April 1915.
The AE2 was the first Allied submarine to fight its way through the Dardanelles Strait and into the Sea of Marmara, in support of the Allied landings at Gallipoli.
The submarine was eventually damaged by enemy action and had to be scuttled, with the crew becoming prisoners of war until 1918.
