East West 101 is a six-part miniseries, comprising onehour episodes. It focuses on Zane Malik, a Muslim detective in a Major Crime Squad, and his colleague and nemesis, Ray Crowley, and the battle between them to reconcile their differences. While employing many of the traditional elements of police dramas, East West 101 brings the genre into the 2000s, with the work of a Sydney western suburbs police unit and a cast that is truly representative of a broad cross-section of the Australian community.
