In this 15-minute video, VCE Media teacher Brett Lamb gives students a crash course on four contemporary communication theories that help us understand contemporary communication – including Filter Bubbles, Spreadability, Reverse Agenda Setting, and Parasocial Theory. This video is a terrific primer for undertaking 'Agency and Control in and of the Media' as part of VCE Media Unit 4.

About the Presenter:

Brett Lamb is a media educator and writer. He is co-author of Heinemann Media and maintains the media education website Lessonbucket. Throughout his career, Brett has presented workshops and seminars on topics as diverse as comic books, film noir, superhero narratives, social networking, action movies, filmmaking, film editing and VCE Media. He has worked for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) and IP Awareness. He is currently a leading teacher at East Doncaster Secondary College and co-teacher at Monash University.
