A teacher and student DVD-ROM resource discussing young people's use of pornography, its harms and effects, and raunch culture.

Recommended for use with students 16 years or older.

This resource provides a unique tool to assist teachers, lecturers and community groups in promoting discussion about relationships and issues involving young people and their use of pornography and its effects.

The influence of media and raunch culture in their lives and relationships is part of this focus.

The Impression that You Get (15 minutes)
This short film explores the influence of easily accessible pornography and sexualised content on young people growing up today. The film draws heavily on the observations and experiences of real teenagers. This is an extremely important film, featuring accurate portrayals of these complex issues as seen through the eyes of young people.

Youth Use of Pornography (Interview with Lee Burton, cybersafety and media issues expert.)
In this interview for teachers and parents, Burton summarises research about young people's exposure to pornography and the effects of pornography on boys and girls, the importance of media and digital literacy, and how to respond to an incident.

ATOM study guide (32-page PDF; written by Lee Burton and Jamie Roberts.)
Burton was co-author of the study guide for Photograph, a powerful DVD-ROM resource dealing with the problem of sexting, and she was a key consultant for ACMA's Cybersmart website (2009–2010). Roberts is the director of The Impression that You Get, and also directed Photograph.
