How one man’s heroic decision changed the lives of many …
This is the true story of John ‘Spike’ Whitworth, the mystery of his disappearance having been solved after sixty-seven years. He was an Australian surf livesaver and a member of the highly secretive Z Special Unit – ‘the bravest of the brave’.
This one-hour docudrama is dedicated to all Australian surf livesavers, and to the Z Special Unit operatives whose lives were lost in World War Two.
This DVD also includes one hour of bonus footage, including extended interviews with Spike’s mate Norman ‘Nob’ Hill and his 1945 girlfriend Mary Verrender, and with Tony Waller about the Fallen Livesavers Memorial. It also includes highlights of the screenings of this docudrama at Penrith RSL and at the Ritz Cinema in Randwick.
