Freedom from Information? The Uses and Abuses of Fol Legislation

This article discusses the importance of freedom-of-information (FoI) legislation and the ways in which it plays a fundamental role in keeping government accountable. The Freedom of Information Act was introduced in Australia in 1982 and was meant to give journalists and the community the ability to access formerly restricted government information and improve government accountability, but it has not always been effective in this aim.
