Culture and Youth in Film

Many films, whether they be Australian, American or European, have set out to explore the moment when individuals make the transition from childhood to adulthood. This essay considers three examples: American Graffitti (George Lucas, 1973), My Life as a Dog (Lasse Hallström, 1985) and The Year My Voice Broke (John Duigan, 1987).
