It is common practice for teachers to use video resources in the classroom to stimulate interest in a new topic or to help students gain information about a topic. Many teachers also realise that the viewing of films in a cinema environment heightens a viewing experience and facilitates close examination of these texts. A recent request for Screen Education to provide a viewing experience to support a classroom study of the topic 'Antarctica' provided an ideal opportunity to introduce some critical viewing skills for Years 3 and 4 students.
