Unjoo Moon's touching biopic recounts the rise to fame of pop singer Helen Reddy – whose eponymous 1972 song helped ignite the fire of second-wave feminism – capturing her fortitude in struggling against the sexist music world of her day. But, while the film is, at heart, a story of empowerment, it does also gloss over the complexities of its chronicled movement and neglects to offer today's younger viewers a reason to tune in, writes Alexandra Heller-Nicholas.
