The Commonwealth Film Unit: Predecessors and Precursors

Recently (at the time of writing in 1995) the Commonwealth Film Unit, and it's predecessor, the Film Unit of the National Film Board, have been painted in terms of their 'in house' style, institutional machinations and stifling relationship to other government departments.
