Open Wound: Excavating Exploitation in Eddie Martin's 'The Kids'

Long notorious for its depictions of underage sex and drug use, Larry Clark's 1995 film Kids cast a long shadow over its impoverished young actors' lives, as revealed in painful detail in Eddie Martin's documentary. As Kath Dooley describes, Martin's film provides a long-overdue opportunity for the surviving cast members to tell the story of the film's production in their own words, and offers insights into the costs of prioritising artistic creation over the welfare of those who may be hurt in the process.
