Widely celebrated for its intensity and ingenious rendition of a post-apocalyptic world, the fourth instalment of George Miller's Mad Max series centres on a withdrawn Max wrestling with both the Wasteland and its inhabitants. But Fury Road has also been lauded for its depiction of strong women – and thus, according to Cavan Gallagher, should likewise be recognised for its incisive interrogation of traditional masculinity.
