Lady Killers: 'Hounds of Love', Horror and Violence Against Women

Part of the horror genre's appeal is the way it lets us encounter the abject, the terrifying, the gruesome within the safe confines of unreality. But according to David Crewe, first-time feature director Ben Young's film about a serial-killing married couple takes on an unsettling realism that confronts us more powerfully than any stylised portrayal of the dangers lurking in our world.
