With a highly mechanised future pretty much upon us – self-driving cars, chatbots, autonomous weapons – Machine raises questions regarding artificial intelligence, robotic intervention, humankind's preservation and the rightness of moving forward with innovation. But, with such a wide range of topics and talking heads, the film ends up favouring pace over profundity, writes Anthony Carew.
