Fire, Birds, Blood and Flowers: Paul Cox's 'The Diaries of Vaslav Nijinsky'

Like a thankful member of the audience who described himself as a schizophrenic, Cox had heard actor, Paul Schofield, read parts of the Nijinsky diaries more than thirty years ago – and the words of this 'insane' man, this 'genius on the outer verge of reason', made sense. Cox's art is deeply existential. How to make this often painful and absurd life journey more 'beautiful and bearable'? How to give shape and form to protest and testify to some alternative, something better?
