Dying a Woman with Dignity: 'Becoming Colleen' and Late-life Gender Transition

Transitioning is already a trying process, demanding much from the body, the mind and interpersonal relationships, but this process becomes even more complicated when it is undergone in old age. Such a step was taken by octogenarian Colleen Young, whose journey to gender affirmation is chronicled in Ian W Thomson's documentary – one that, according to Cerise Howard, is simultaneously poignant and piecemeal.
