Against a backdrop of continuing Indigenous over-representation in prisons, Alex Siddons' nuanced and compassionate documentary explores the transformative role of art in the lives of current and former inmates. As Rebekah Brammer writes, however, the film also makes the case that individual rehabilitation is but one step forward in the greater challenge of combating systemic disadvantage.
