Product Overview

Please note: This study guide contains two versions – a full-colour guide and a text-only version for printing and referencing.

Goolagong is a three-part event miniseries based on the inspiring true-life story of world champion tennis player Evonne Goolagong, one of Australia’s most beloved female sporting heroes.

In 1958, a skinny Aboriginal seven-year-old peered through the wire fence of the Barellan tennis courts, longing to play the sport she instinctively knew was her game. That longing would drive her to become one of Australia’s most decorated sportswomen, winning fourteen Grand Slam titles (including Wimbledon twice), overcoming harassment from her coach, recovering from a career-ending injury to defeat her great rival and becoming the world number one in women’s tennis. She remains the only mother of the modern era to have won Wimbledon. In the time of burgeoning black rights and women’s liberation, Evonne proved to herself, her people, and the world that she was a true champion.
