Political Football is a documentary film suitable for secondary students. In 1971, six rugby union footballers took a stand against apartheid and refused to represent their country against a side that was selected according to race. Their decision was unprecedented: no Australian players had ever refused to represent their country on political grounds. The political ramifications were enormous and Political Football pays homage to this group of footballers who swam against the current and sacrificed their personal ambitions for the sake of a principle.
