The documentary Little Brother, Little Sister (Belinda Mason, 1998) explores the story of the adoption of Ethiopian sister and brother Eleni and Sisay by the Lows, an Australian family. Anne and Steve Low already have two children: James, their biological son, who is fourteen, and Japhet, aged twelve, whom they adopted as a baby from New Guinea. Filmed over a two-year period and using an observational style, the film shows how Eleni, aged five, and Sisay, aged seven, deal with the profound changes in their lives as they move from a foster home in Ethiopia to suburban Sydney with their adoptive family.
