Beyond the Reef takes audiences on a journey to one of the most beautiful places in the world – Far North Queensland, Australia – to explore this versatile and spectacular landscape. Famous for the Great Barrier Reef, the area is world-renowned for its precious ecosystems and is the backdrop to one of the biggest conversations in environmental change.

Directed by Luke Wheatley and presented by Shuang Hu, this feature documentary showcases the landscape by land, air and sea, with local stories, insights and inspiration along the way. From diving the Great Barrier Reef, taking a safari in the Daintree Rainforest, meeting the local animals, finding unique watering holes and learning to sail, audiences will feel completely immersed in the experience of a lifetime.

Filmed in spectacular 8k with Dolby Atmos surround sound, Beyond the Reef has been created for a fully immersive giant screen experience.

Beyond the Reef is suitable for secondary students at all year levels. The documentary is also recommended for primary students in Years 5 and 6. For students in Years 5–10, Beyond the Reef has relevance to units of work in the learning areas of:
