About Us

The Education Shop: Experts in the moving image

Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) is an independent, not-for-profit, teacher-focused association that has been promoting the study of media and screen literacy and the use of audiovisual material in the classroom since 1968.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we are located, and we pay our respects to them, their culture, and their Elders – past, present and emerging.

The Education Shop

Carefully curated to bring you the best free and paid education resources – specifically targeted to Australian students and the Australian curriculum.

Purchases from The Education Shop support Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM), a not-for-profit organisation and charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

ATOM receives no state or federal funding to finance the work it does.

Without income from The Education Shop, ATOM would not be able to publish our magazines and study guides, or run the awards/competitions listed below.

This online shop helps subsidise ATOM’s day-to-day running costs, including paying hundreds of freelance writers and its staff.

For sales of streaming content and DVDs, 60% of the sale price goes to producers or copyright owners. Your purchases directly support the Australian film and television industries.

In 2018, ATOM returned over $245,000 to freelance producers and writers.
