SYNOPSIS
A documentary film capturing a revolutionary time in Australian history – the women's liberation movement (1965-1975).
The film shows the collective power it took to bring social and political change with the 'brazen hussies' and their 'outrageous' demands that included equal pay, reproductive rights, affordable childcare, and the prevention of family violence and rape. Combining a treasure trove of startling archive footage with interviews with trailblazing women and activists such as Merle Thornton, Elizabeth Reid (first ever women's affairs adviser), Pat O'Shane, Anne Summers, Martha Ansara and Biff Ward to name a few.
By going back in time, Brazen Hussies reveals how the changes demanded by these women 50 years ago, have paved the way for where feminism finds itself today – and the ongoing campaign for gender equality and diversity.
