2006 was the deadliest season on Everest in a decade. Record numbers of climbers took advantage of clear weather and flocked toward the summit.

Experienced mountaineer, Lincoln Hall is invited to join an expedition as high altitude cameraman. It is his second attempt on the mountain, having turned back just short of the summit 22 years earlier.

Shortly after reaching the summit, he begins to behave irrationally, suffering from lack of oxygen. Aided by his loyal Sherpas for over nine hours, he eventually collapses and they declare him dead. But something happens that night to reverse his fortunes. Incredibly, the next morning he is found alive by approaching climbers who radio for help.
