Working it Out - Work and Working Life in the Cinema

'Just about every film has some form of representation of employment, work, jobs, career or working life. It is fair to say that where jobs are presented as part of characters' lives there is a major and disproportionate representation of professions to the detriment of blue collar or trade occupations. In this article I have distilled the films that have a more overt approach to looking at work and working life, in particular where filmmakers are making social comments about employment conditions.'
