The final installment in Mark Nicholls' series on The Third Man is a close analysis of the film scene by scene. Reading this analysis, in the light of the preceding articles, many of the issues and themes that Mark has discussed are brought into focus in the details of mise-en-scène; in the lighting, the set and the action. Of course The Third Man cannot be read without drawing on questions of masculinity and its representation, as Mark has made abundantly clear throughout his series of discussions of the film.
