'This article looks at 'SeaChange', the light-hearted television drama produced for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation between 1998-2000, as a way to open a discussion around 1) The Australian Broadcasting Corporation's role, as government funded national and international broadcaster, in constructing, configuring, and cohering a shared sense of national identity; and 2) How programmes like 'SeaChange' imagine a progressive sense of community, in this case a multicultural community living in what might seem like a typical fishing village on the East Coast.'
