With the world of Ridley Scott's cult science fiction work having been recently revived for a 2017 sequel, teachers have an excellent opportunity to bring these films – along with the philosophical questions they raise around consciousness, identity and reality – into the senior secondary English classroom. As Duncan Driver argues, the Blade Runner movies are of interest not just for their own thought-provoking subject matter, but also for the broader discussions they can foster about teaching itself.
