In Kitty Green's documentary, inhabitants of Boulder, Colorado, reflect on the horrific – and, to this day, unsolved – murder of JonBenét Ramsey. Ostensibly, they are there to audition for a film about the events, but it turns out that it is they – their lives, connections to the case and theories as to what transpired on that fateful Christmas night in 1996 – who are the real subjects. Closely analysing the film, Katy Marriner offers some thought-provoking discussion points for senior secondary classrooms.
