Human by Design: Gattaca

This Film as Text looks at Andrew Niccol's 'bioethical' film Gattaca. The author argues that the art deco and art and art nouveau design elements in the film frame it within the era of the eugenics movement, and discusses how the designs draw the viewer into thinking about human evolution and the role that contemporary biomedicine plays in the (re)design of genetic information.
