Film as Text. Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis (2007), based on her graphic novels of the same name, is one of a growing number of films that employs animation to depict complex and confronting subject matter. In doing so, such films offer interesting avenues of investigation for students and educators, not only in terms of the stories told, but also in relation to how these artistic and aesthetic techniques affect the narrative structures and modes of representation offered.
