This article looks at the evolution of animation, from Victorian toys to the present day. The purpose of this article is to point to the schism that took place with the advent of television, and suggest a similar crucial change is occurring at present in film. This is an impressionistic animation history interpreted by an animator with an animator's perspective and prejudices.
