'While much is made of 'Walkabout's' cinematography, montage and elliptical narrative strategies, there is little critical reference to its music or soundtrack yet, these are crucial components in the film. I want to examine the music score and argue that it gives an English/European slant to the film and/or contributes to the construction of an Australian identity within an Anglo-European framework.'
