Rather than replicating the outside environment, virtual reality works create an 'as if' experience underpinned by a feeling of entering a different world. With reference to two recent Australian exemplars of the form, Kim Munro explores how this relatively new, immersive medium can engender opportunities to engage with other perspectives.
