In 2011, The Orator (O Le Tulafale), directed by the Samoan-born, New Zealand-based Tusi Tamasese, made history as the first Samoan-language film to be shot in Samoa with a Samoan cast and crew. Richard Gray spoke with Tusi Tamasese about the difficulties of working in a country without a film industry, as well as his own influences and aspirations.
