Reports of the death of photography have been remarkably frequent, and generally wildly exaggerated. We are now (at the time of writing in 1996) in the mid-to late period of a new wave of such reports, occasioned by the inevitable, irresistible and undoubtedly problematic change from analog to digital methods in photographic image production and reproduction.
