Whether as spectres that linger in hallways or memories that mar the present, the past remains with us in ways that we can't always control. In his latest documentary, Warwick Thornton attempts to channel these hauntings into something constructive, but disappointingly the film doesn't shine much light on these dark places in our collective consciousness, writes Kit MacFarlane.
