Righting Past Wrongs: Fathers and Families in Mad Bastards

Well-intentioned feature Mad Bastards (Brendan Fletcher, 2011) takes an unconventional approach to cinema that sees amateur actors take the lead and traditional Aboriginal modes of storytelling dictate the narrative. Though in some ways flawed, its story of a troubled family trying to circumvent the cycle of violence and substance abuse is a vital one, writes Tom Redwood.
