Ritesh Batra's debut feature depicts the Mumbai office workers who are brought lunches by professional deliverymen. Much like the tiered tiffin containers of the film's title, however, the narrative layers in The Lunchbox also reveal how the city can foster alienation and isolation – as well as hope and romance, writes Sarinah Masukor.
