Naivety in Nudity

From an indeterminate source in my childhood I had been exposed to the idea that some distinction could be made between nudity and nakedness, one I later discovered came from the art historian Kenneth Clarke. Nudity is about exposure; it requires a kind of revelation of the body from concealment. Nakedness is the way we were born.
