Australian films are rarely re-evaluated. If a film is razzed at the time of its release, it will most likely go down in the records as a failure. When referring to Aussie films of the past, contemporary critics too often regurgitate the opinions of the taste-makers of the day, rather than watching the film with fresh eyes and switched-on thinking-boxes. Such, Tadhg Taylor, opines, has been the case with Tim Burstall's Last of the Knucklemen (1979).
