Now in its fifth year, Screen Australia's development initiative Skip Ahead continues to fulfil its goal of skilling up – and cashing up – local YouTubers. As Guy Healy has found, however, the program also brings unexpected and significant benefits to established producers, who, in collaborating with web-series creators, learn how to better adapt their storytelling and reach audiences amid the growing predominance of new-media platforms.
