Depicting Dementia on the Mainstream Screen

Sometimes it's a nonspecific senility that tugs on the heartstrings, and sometimes it's an eccentric kookiness that's played for laughs – but dementia has rarely been explored on screen in any depth. According to Rose Capp, however, several recent Australian screen texts that earnestly explore the ubiquitous disease signal that this reliance on stereotypical representations may be changing.
