'Award winning documentary film-making veteran David Bradbury calls the Byron Shires his home and he is not alone. Today, the New South Wales Northern Rivers Region (from the Clarence Valley to Tweed Heads) boasts the largest regional community of documentary makers in Australia, most of whom also live in the Shire. The region is host to the 2003 Australian International Documentary Conference.' Kerry Sunderland chats to David about how the region has been a source of inspiration for his work, his early documentaries on camaraman Neil Davis and journalist Wilfred Burchett, and his trio of environmental and development protest films 'Battle of Byron (1996), Loggerheads (1997) and Battle of Byron 2 1999).
